The main motivations were to enhance my riding performance, boost my energy levels, and improve my overall well-being. If you’ve ever thought your body is different, you’re right.

Zoe’s science emphasizes that everyone’s response to food is unique. This holds true even for identical twins, whose metabolisms are not entirely determined by their genes.

The Ordering Process

The ordering process was seamless. When the tests arrived, they were beautifully presented and packaged, akin to opening a new Apple product. The instructions were extremely clear, making all the tests very easy to use.

Getting Started

After selecting my start date, I was ready to go. The day before the test, I applied the glucose monitor and tested it with the app. The test day began with the first task: a poo sample. Surprisingly, this was really easy to do. While I wasn’t exactly looking forward to it, the provided “poo hammock” made it a breeze.

Next up was a blood test. This was also straightforward, with comprehensive instructions and helpful videos.

The Cookie Challenge

The most challenging part was eating the test cookies. For breakfast, I had to consume two large, very dry, fatty, and sweet cookies within 20 minutes. I managed to eat both in about 12 minutes, but they were absolutely disgusting. Following this, I had to fast for four hours. A few minutes into the fast, I developed a stinking headache, which is unusual for me.

Four hours later, it was time for another round of cookies, this time with blue dye to track digestion. These blue cookies were even worse than the first batch. I discovered a tip in one of the groups to help with this: consuming a lot of black coffee with each mouthful. Two hours after eating the blue cookies, it was time for another blood test. The device for this test was easy and painless to use. Pressing a small device onto my arm filled the tube effortlessly, which was quite impressive.

Monitoring and Insights

As I approach the last day of my glucose monitor, I’ve been tracking my progress. The most amazing discovery so far is that my blood sugar doesn’t spike when I drink wine.

Final Thoughts

I’m eagerly awaiting the test results from all the samples and cookies. Once they arrive, I’ll share another update. So far, I’m very impressed with Zoe and their approach. This journey has already provided fascinating insights into my body’s unique responses to food, and I’m excited to learn more.

While on holiday, I delved into Tim Spector’s book Food for Life, and it piqued my interest in trying out Zoe.
